Blondes really do have more fun—at least in Selena Gomez’s case. The singer debuted peroxide locks at the American Music Awards last month, and it seems she has a bright new wardrobe to match her hair. While promoting the release of her new single “Wolves” in London, Gomez served up a record-breaking number of quick changes with five different looks (and counting) in under 24 hours.
Gomez got off on a sartorial high note in an off-the-shoulder minidress from Cushnie et Ochs. Her accessories were just as playful: caramel-tinted cat eye sunglasses from her stylist Kate Young’s collaboration with Tura and Trademark’s velvet mule wedges with a coordinating gingham embellishment. Afterwards, she swung by BBC Radio One in a layered look from Proenza Schouler: a fil coupe sleeveless dress with a ribbed knit underneath. The clingy fit kept the doubled-up styling in close check, while the allover metal detail brought an edgy twist to a ladylike silhouette.
Gomez swapped it for another flirty dress by Isabel Marant for a visit to the Kiss FM studio. The midi hem can read dowdy—particularly when done in a floral print—but Gomez sidestepped this with Mansur Gavriel’s suede kitten heels in cherry red. She kept the same shoes on when she arrived for a Global radio showing, only now she wore a houndstooth coat from Fay. The menswear-inspired pattern was just the thing to punch up monochromatic base layers, which for Gomez, took the form of a Prada turtleneck and Derek Lam 10 Crosby high-waisted shorts.
Afterwards, Gomez made a quick stop at her hotel only to emerge in another printed look fit for evening. For starters, her Coach chiffon frock was dotted with a whimsical motif made up of penguins toasting with Champagne coups. The sparse leather trim and velvet ribbon at the bust lent the sheer piece a sense of structure, and Gomez took it one step further in lace-up knee-high boots, also by Coach, which had an Old World feel. With all these dizzying wardrobe changes, it’s hard to keep up with the new Selena.
